Standing proud at the top of the Ormeau and Ravenhill roads, this splendid guesthouse combines nineteenth century grandeur and contemporary comforts with a uniquely Irish hospitality.Ravenhill House has been a living embodiment of Victorian charm seamlessly interwoven with modern comfort, where a heartfelt Irish welcome awaits all those who choose to stay.
For a remarkable 25 years, owners Olive and Roger, have dedicated themselves to creating unique, quality accommodation that feels like a home away from home. Welcoming guests from all around the world and introducing them to warm Irish hospitality, as well as delicious award-winning breakfasts.
When they opened in September 1997 after a long renovation of the building, they had just had their first child. Armed with a fax machine and telephone for bookings, the Ravenhill House story began.
Olive and Roger strived to provide high quality accommodation along with delicious and nutritious breakfasts. They sourced eggs from the nearby St. George’s Market. Milled their own fresh flour from grains from Dunany Organic Farm in their Mockmill to make their famous wheaten bread. This pursuit of delicious and nutritious breads led them to enhance their breakfast offerings further, as they learned how to make organic sourdough through a comprehensive bread course undertaken in Scotland, and perfected their recipes of homemade compotes, mueslis, and granolas.
This dedication to detail is equally evident in the rooms and interiors of Ravenhill House. Drawing inspiration from the design ethos of 19th Century designer, William Morris, the rooms are faithfully restored in harmony with the arts and crafts movement, while also offering contemporary comforts. Notably, Olive and Roger have taken active roles in the interior decoration themselves, using their skills in many areas. From making curtains and cushions, to fitting lights and showers, time and care has gone into every detail of decor.
The reputation of Ravenhill House reached far and wide, attracting discerning visitors who were unequivocally content with their choice. A testament to this satisfaction is evidenced by over 500 ‘excellent’ reviews on TripAdvisor. This commendable feedback has contributed to the ongoing distinction of Ravenhill House as the best bed and breakfast establishment in Belfast, which they have consistently maintained across multiple years.
