The house is in the area of Ballynafeigh which includes Upper Ormeau and Ravenhill Roads. Local ameneties are centred on Ormeau Road, a five minute walk from the house and include four pubs, five restaurants, three daytime cafes and various shops.

The Errigle Inn is worth a visit for good pub food in the Oak Lounge,
the panelled and stained glass interior of which has been in place since 1953. This is also the home of the The Real Music club

Ormeau Park, Belfast’s largest, is ideal for a peaceful walk among mature beech, oak, chestnut and birch.The park also incorporates a nine hole golf course. Eighteen holes are available close by at Belvoir Golf Course, bordering Lagan Valley park. Nearby Cherryvale playing field is used by many sports clubs and is a good place to see Gaelic football and hurling played.

If you are a keen runner Roger can provide you with measured route maps including one which leads on to the River Lagan towpath.

To the east is the Ravenhill Ground, home of Ulster Rugby. A kick further on is the family home of George Best and a huge wall mural commemorating one of the world’s greatest footballers.

A ten minute walk south along Ormeau Road will bring you to Forestside Shopping Centre for Sainsbury, M&S, Boots, Dunnes, HMV, Carphone Warehouse and a host of fashion shops.
